I once heard Google considers over 100 different factors when ranking websites in its search engine and no one (but Google) knows what they are.
Give me a break.
There are NO search engine optimization secrets.
Perhaps, the SEO "pros" are using fear tactics to get you to sign the dotted line.
Regardless, you should focus your SEO energies in two areas in order to obtain Google success. But you must do them very well...
1. Content is King.
Now, that doesn't mean Google needs 1,000 words on your "About Us" page or a version of War And Peace when describing your products and services.
What it does mean is Google wants well-written, keyword-rich content. If your web page is about leaf blowers, then your content should be about leaf blowers. Use the keyword, OK?
Don't over stuff by mentioning the keyword over and over and over. Don't dumb down your audience either.
2. Link Building is Queen.
You must earn relevant links from directories and other websites pointing back to your website.
Quality links from quality sites.
Not quantity.
If someone tells you the more links the merrier, they are wrong!
For example, I conducted a search for "popcorn" in Google. The No. 1 listed site (which is also ranked at No. 2) has over 6,000 links. The No. 3 site has 35,000 links.
I guess that blows that theory, huh?
Are there other things you can do? Yes.
However, if your site isn't in the Top 100 in Google, I wouldn't worry too much about Page Rank. I wouldn't lose any sleep over how often Google is crawling your website, etc., etc., etc.
