SEO Tactics, Tips & Helpful Advice - No. 35

This week's tip comes from Tim Ash, President of Site Tuners, who spoken Monday at Chicago's Search Engine Strategies Conference & Expo.

There are five deadly sins when working with landing pages:

  1. Squandering Attention - Stop screaming at your visitors; eliminate choices; unclutter your pages and leave white space.
  2. Invisible Trust Symbols - Make your risk reducers prominent on the page. Every page. This includes testimonials, current clients, credit card symbols, etc.
  3. Surprising or Confusing People - Do not create transaction interruptions; chat interruptions; boxes that fly across the screen asking them if they want help.
  4. Ignoring your Baseline - Devote some time to the original version of your landing page.
  5. Not Collecting Enough Data - You have to collect enough data when conducting a landing page test.
