Focus your efforts on local search and the amount of traffic and business that is available locally.
Consider:
- How can "local" customers and clients have no idea of your business, products or services?
- Start with your city, your county, your state, your region and then nationally. For example, Cincinnati pizza, Hamilton County pizza, Ohio pizza, Northern Kentucky pizza, Tri-State pizza, pizza, etc.
- Be the BIG fish in the little pond first by owning local search terms in Google, Yahoo and MSN.
- Check search engines - now - to find out who is ranked in the Top 10 on local keywords.
- Do not be afraid to compete against Super Pages, Yellow Pages, Yellowbook, etc. Those are easy targets just sitting in the Top 10 position because no one else is going for local search. Crush them.
- Use the Google Keyword Research Tool to find the best possible local keywords for your website.
- Get listed in Google Maps. It's free.
